When to Cut Down a Tree on Your Southworth, WA Property; Decayed or Leaning Trees & More

If you are like most homeowners, you love the trees that are found on your property. Not only do they provide you with much needed shade, but they are also in a beautiful addition to any landscape. For many homeowners, the thought of removing their beautiful trees from their property is almost unfathomable. However, if your tree is not healthy and is a danger to your home and those that live in it, it might be your only option. Straight Up Tractor Services is here to talk about some of the signs that are present when it is time to take down one of your trees.

Signs That Indicate a Tree Should Be Removed for Safety

If you have a tree that no longer is healthy or is a danger to your home and property, there will more than likely be some signs present and you should opt for tree removal.

  • Tree is Leaning: Some trees that were not staked properly when they were first planted might have a lean to them as they grow. If your tree is leaning all of a sudden or is leaning worse than it has in the past, this can be a sign that your tree is no longer healthy and needs to be removed.
  • Tree Damage or Decay: Any sign that your tree has sustained damage or is starting to decay is also a sign that the tree needs to be removed from your property. Some indication that there is damage or decay might include: verticals cracks in the trunk, dead branch stubs, abnormal bark peeling, visible wounds or cavities.
  • Hollowness in Tree Trunk: Any way you cut the cake, a tree should never be hollow. While it might seem to kids like a hollow tree is a fun place to play, it is actually incredibly dangerous. If you have a hollow tree, you know that this tree has experienced internal decay.
  • Dead Tree Branches: Now before you go cutting down your tree because you see one or two dead branches, please know that a few dead branches is normal. However, if you notice that half of your tree is filled with dead branches, this is a sign that your tree is not healthy and is struggling. If you were to experience a large or severe storm, these dead branches will not be able to hold up and large dead branches could end up causing significant damage to your property.
  • Bad Tree Location: Sometimes, home owners plant trees without thinking it through. It might sound nice to have a tree next to your home when in reality that’s not a safe place to have the tree at all. You don’t want the branches of your trees to ever make contact with your home. You also want to make sure that the trees roots aren’t going to cause problems with your foundation. If you have trees that are in a hazardous or a horrible location, you might want to remove them.
