Preparing Undeveloped Land for Cabin Construction

When you purchase property that is in the mountains, there is more than likely going to be many trees found on the property. Before you can properly place your cabin, those trees will need to be removed and the ground will need to be prepared a bit. It is important that tree removal is done right so that they safely fall and the stumps are properly ground to begin building. This can be a big process. You are definitely going to want an excavation team who are experts in land clearing to help you remove all the roots, stumps and rocks to get the building process underway.

Preparing for Utilities

Another thing that you need to think about when building a cabin is getting utilities out there. You will need both dry and wet utilities lines dug. During the building process, you will likely need to have a temporary power source on the site to help get the cabin constructed. You may also need a temporary water source as well. If the property is too far to have municipal utilities, you will need to make plans to install a septic tank.

Erosion Control

You will need to do some erosion control on your property as well before you start building. This is done using a silt fence along a contour line to help keep erosion under control. If you have a large building site, it can be helpful to have an excavation crew to help you get this done. Once the ground has been completely stabilized, this silt fence can be removed.

Ground Leveling & Excavation

The dirt that is moved during the excavation process will later be used to back fill the foundation and landscaping.
